The Shore Cultural Centre in Euclid is celebrating 100 years with a Folk Festival on Saturday, February 23rd. Music, Poetry and Dance workshops will take place between 12-6 p.m. There will be a Children's Concert at 3 p.m and a Headline Concert at 7 p.m. featuring several musicians and poets Katie Daley and Ray McNiece. Mac's Backs is one of the sponsors of this event. Two children's poetry workshops led by Lake Erie Ink instructors Cynthia Larsen and Amy Rosenbluth will be from 1-2 p.m and from 2-3 p.m. A poetry contest will take place from 3-4 p.m. Each contestant will read one poem and there will be 3 cash prizes awarded for $50, $30 and $20 dollars. Winners can also read their winning poem during the evening concert. Poet Katie Daley will lead the adult poetry workshop from 4-5 p.m. The Shore Cultural Centre was Shore High School until 1986 when the building began it's life as a home to arts, education and service groups. It's a massive old building with a 1,200-seat auditorium, dance studios with sprung wood floors, music rehearsal spaces, a fully equipped pottery studio, and large rooms with high ceilings and excellent natural light.
