Scott Lax, author of the critically acclaimed novel The Year That Trembled and the newly released Vengeance Follows (Gray & Co. 2013) will read at Mac's on Wednesday, February 19th at 7 p.m. Vengeance Follows is a literary suspense novel about how one man's grief leads him from European cafe life to retribution in a small Ohio town. "A spare and elegant tale about wayward grief on a collision course with what Hannah Arendt termed ‘the banality of evil.’ Set in a small town in Ohio, the story hurtles toward a fierce inevitability, and you will find yourself wondering whether mere human goodness is enough to alter its course. In Scott Lax’s hands, how this question gets worked out through closely drawn characters, and through crimes old and new, achieves a level of real artistry" Shelley Costa Scott Lax is a journalist, musician and filmmaker. He was named Midwest Filmmaker of the Year by the Cleveland International Film Festival in 2002 for adapting The Year that Trembled. His journalism has won many awards including an Ohio Excellence in Journalism Award in 2008.
