For a lawyer practicing in paradise, Drake Burnham has a betel nut basket packed with problems. Against his better judgement, Burnham agrees to defend a nightmare client, Jangle Elwell before a hanging judge who has it out for both attorney and client. Jangle soons turns the Frost and Burnham law firm inside out, courting a staffer, punching out an investigator and making any defense nearly impossible. But Drake Burnham's problems really begin when his client Jangle turns up murdered.
Robert Diemer lived in Micronesia for several years. His non-fiction work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Islands Magazine, and the San Francisco Examiner Magazine. Mr. Diemer and his family live in San Francisco. "The Widow's Son" is his first novel.
