Several Coventry Rd. businesses will be celebrating big anniversaries this fall with a special event on Saturday, Sept. 29th.

Attenson's Antiques and Books (30 years), Mac's Backs-Books on Coventry (40 years), Passport to Peru (40 years) and Record Revolution (50 years) will be offering discounts and merchandise specials.

There will be music on the sidewalk from 12-6 p.m, face painting, tarot readings and other activities throughout the day. Artist Maria Amador will be doing hand-lettered dedications inside books.

SCHEDULE: (Keeps evolving, check back!)

12-2 p.m Music: Stephan Haluska - solo harp and electronics. He describes his set as "ambient, electro-acoustic harp compositions with improvised interludes.

1-3 p.m. Face Painting with Viva ( who is awesome! )

1-3 p.m. Origami Bookmaking in Mac's basement with Lisa Cheng

1:30-3:30 p.m. Balloon Twisting with Flower Clown (the best!)

2-4 p.m. Music: Swagger Kings, a bopping mixture of Swing, Jump, Blues and Americana

2-5 p.m. Tarot Readings with Lea (dont' miss your chance to have Lea read for you!)

4-6 p.m. Booksigning with artists from The HeART of Cleveland at Mac's

4-6 p.m. MusicBrad Bolton & Christie Anderson are The BLK SKWRL AKORDION KLUB. They play "a variety of folk and popular music from around the world."


Mac's Backs-Books on Coventry has three floors of new and used books & magazines. We are located on Coventry Rd. in Cleveland Heights, a walking neighborhood near Cleveland's museums and Case Western Reserve University. We have a large selection of classics, mysteries, science fiction, contemporary fiction and non-fiction. Mac's hosts readings, booksignings, author events, book clubs and writing workshops. At Mac's Backs, all books and gifts will be 20% off on September 29th and we will also have special merchandise and give-a-ways. In honor of our 40th Anniversary we will create a special window display of 40 notable, bestselling and staff favorite titles. We are also creating a ziine of customer memories and anecdotes. Origami artist Lisa Cheng will be at Mac's to help customers create a keepsake booklet. Artists included in The HeART of Cleveland will be on hand to sign the book.

Record Revolution was established in 1967, making it currently one of the longest-running independent record stores in the country. In addition to vinyl records, they also offer a number of lifestyle accessories; tobacco pipes, vaporizers & accessories, rock 'n roll t-shirts & posters, body jewelry, incense, oils, and much more. Discount will be 10% store-wide including vinyl, pipes, accessories, T’s, posters, and more except sales items.
