GAIL BELLAMY & TOM RAITHEL
Poets Gail Bellamy and Tom Raithel will read at Mac's on Wednesday, February 12th at 7 p.m followed by an open mic.
Gail Bellamy, Ph.D., is an award-winning magazine journalist, food writer, book author and poet. Her work has appeared in more than 100 publications, including the 2019 anthology Undocumented: Great Lakes Poets Laureate on Social Justice (Michigan State University Press.) She was named Cleveland Heights’ Poet Laureate in 2009 and 2010, and received a 2010 Creative Workforce Fellowship in Poetry, funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Her seven published books include two poetry collections (Victual Reality and Traveler’s Salad, Pudding House Press), three local nostalgia books (Cleveland Food Memories, Cleveland Christmas Memories and Cleveland Summertime Memories, all published by Gray & Co.), The Vegetable Storybook (Keiki O Ka Aina Press), and the fine arts/interior design book Design Spirits (PBC International/St. Martin’s Press). For seven years Gail served as board president of the Poets’ and Writers’ League of Greater Cleveland/The Literary Center, and with her husband Stephen she co-edited Ohio Writer magazine.
Tom Raithel grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and worked as a journalist at several newspapers in the Midwest. He recently moved from Evansville, Indiana to Cleveland. His poems have appeared in The Southern Review, Nimrod, The Comstock Review, The Midwest Quarterly, Atlanta Review and other journals. His poetry was included in The Boom Project~Voices of a Generation, an anthology of writers of the Ohio River Valley A poetry chapbook, Dark Leaves, Strange Light has been published by Finishing Line Press.
