GEORGE BILGERE & JIM HAGAN
Poets George Bilgere and Jim Hagan will read at Mac's on Wednesday, September 13th at 7 p.m. followed by an open mic.
Jim Hagan has had poems and essays published in The Plain Dealer, Penguin Review, Ploughshares, and Heartlands: A Magazine of Midwest Art and Writing. He once won the William Redding Poetry Prize awarded by Larry's Tavern in Columbus Ohio, a long running venue (now gone) for local poets.
George Bilgere has published several collections of poetry including Imperial (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2014) and The White Museum (Autumn House, 2010).
He has received grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pushcart Foundation, the Witter Bynner Foundation through the Library of Congress, and the Fulbright Foundation. He has given readings in venues around the country, including the Library of Congress and the 92nd Street Y in New York. George is a 2014 Creative Workforce Fellow in Literature, a grant funded through Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
George also hosts a weekly radio show, WORDPLAY, an offbeat mix of poetry, comedy, and an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of the spoken word.
