Mac's Backs will host Liz Breazeale, Joe Meno and singer songwriter Jason Kaminski on Thursday, September 22nd at 7 p.m. Author Laura Maylene Walter (Body of Stars) will host a q & a after the reading.
Joe Meno is on tour for his new novel Book of Extraordinary Tragedies (Akashic Press, Sept 6th 2022). Joe is a fiction writer and journalist who lives in Chicago. Winner of the Nelson Algren Literary Award, a Pushcart Prize, and a finalist for the Story Prize, Meno is the best-selling author of several novels and short story collections including Marvel and a Wonder, The Great Perhaps, The Boy Detective Fails, and Hairstyles of the Damned. He is a professor in the English and Creative Writing Department at Columbia College Chicago.
Liz Breazeale is the author of Extinction Event: Stories (University of Nebraska Press 2019). She’s served as an editor for the Mid-American Review, Blue Monday Review and The Adroit Journal. Liz is the recipient of the 2018 Prairie Schooner Book Prize for Fiction for Extinction Events, and her work has been featured in the Best of the Net anthology, nominated for Pushcart Prizes, and selected as runner-up for the Wabash Prize. Her work is forthcoming or has appeared in Kenyon Review Online, Hayden’s Ferry, The Collagist, Fugue, Pleiades, Fence, The Sycamore Review, Passages North, Booth, Territory, and others.
Jason Kaminski is a singer/songwriter from Cleveland. He has released 3 full length albums since 2013. The most recent, "Until Tomorrow", was released by Head2Wall Records in 2020 and there is a forthcoming full length due to drop late 2022/early 2023 on the same label. Blending mellow vibes with heartfelt lyrics, Jason's music is reminiscent of past songwriters like Elliott Smith and Jason Molina, yet still brings a personal accent that is instantly recognized as his own.jasonkaminskimusic.bandcamp.com
