POETRY: HOLLY JENSEN, BOB MCDONOUGH, PHILLIP STERLING
Poets Holly Jensen, Bob McDonough and Phillip Sterling will read at Mac's on Saturday, April 14th at 7 p.m.
Holly Jensen is the author of the newly published Lost Footnotes of the Gospel and her poetry has been published in numerous print and online journals including Pank Magazine,The Midwest Quarterly and Pear Noir! Her traditional and free ghazals ( a Persian poetic form) have appeared in Kestrel, Tilt-a-Whirl and Damazine. She was the 2015-2016 editor of The International Journal of English Langauage Ghazals. Bob McDonough taught at Cuyahoga Community College for more than forty years and was a founder and president of the old Poets' League of Greater Cleveland. He has published No Other World (Cleveland State University Poetry Center), Greatest Hits (Pudding House Publications), and numerous poems in little magazines. He co-edited (with Diane Kendig) In the Company of Russell Atkins an anthology celebrating Cleveland poet Russell Atkins. Bob was named one of the forty-five most important poets in Cleveland since WWII. He has given many readings in libraries, colleges, and universities, bookstores, parks, art galleries, coffee houses, churches, bars, and a junkyard.
Phillip Sterling’s books include two poetry collections, And Then Snow and Mutual Shores, a collection of short fiction, In Which Brief Stories Are Told, and four chapbook-length series of poems (Significant Others,Quatrains, Abeyance, And for All This: Poems from Isle Royale). He is the compiling editor of Imported Breads: Literature of Cultural Exchange and Isle Royale from the AIR: Poems, Stories, and Songs from 25 Years of Artists-in-Residence. Among his awards are an National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, two Fulbright Lectureships (Belgium and Poland), a P.E.N. Syndicated Fiction Award, and inclusion in Best Small Fictions 2017. Professor Emeritus at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI, he has served as Artist-in-Residence for both Isle Royale National Park and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan.
