POETRY READING With John Amen and Clarissa Jakobsons

Poets John Amen, author of Dark Souvenirs and Clarissa Jakobsons, author of Baltic Amber in a Chest will read at Mac's on Wednesday, April 10th at 7 pm followed by an open mic.

John Amen is the author of five collections of poetry, including Illusion of an Overwhelm, finalist for the 2018 Brockman-Campbell Award, and work from which was chosen as a finalist for the 2018 Dana Award. He was the recipient of the 2021 Jack Grapes Poetry Prize. His poems and prose have appeared recently in RattlePrairie SchoonerAmerican Literary ReviewTupelo Quarterly, and Los Angeles Review, and his poetry has been translated into Spanish, French, Hungarian, Korean, and Hebrew. His music, literary, and film reviews appear widely in such publications as Colorado ReviewNo DepressionBeats Per Minute, and PopMatters. He founded and is managing editor of Pedestal Magazine. His new collection, Dark Souvenirs, will be released by New York Quarterly Books in 2024

Artist, poet, educator, Clarissa Jakobsons was twice-featured at The Shakespeare and Co. Bookstore in Paris, and won first place at the Akron Art Museum New Words Competition. She has been published in Sheila-Na-Gig, Glint Literary Journal, Hawaii Pacific Review, Lake, Ruminate, Tower Magazine, The Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine and other journals. The Ohio Poetry Association sponsored her ekphrastic poetry workshop at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Her solo art exhibition at Western Reserve Academy Moos Gallery, Hudson, Ohio combined artist books, poems, and oil paintings. She has also enjoyed Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center residencies.
