Andy Clausen, Sarah Marcus, Mike Steffen and Pamela Twining will read at Mac's followed by an open mic on Wednesday, July 10th at 7 p.m.
Andy Clausen is a friend to many of the Beat generation poets. He taught at The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics (Naropa) and has lectured widely. He co-edited Poems for the Nation with Allen Ginsberg and Eliot Katz (Seven Stories Press) and was an editor at Long Shot Magazine. Clausen has been published by some of the most iconic small presses, from Litmus in the 1970s to Zeitgeist Press in the 1990s, to Pressure and Shivastan presses throughout the 2000s. His most recent book is Home of the Blues (Museum of American Poetics Publications 2013).
Sarah Marcus is the author of Backcountry, just out from Finishing Line Press. Her work has appeared in McSweeneys, Glimmer Train, CALYX Journal, Cimarron Review, Spork, Cold Mountain Review and other publications. Don't miss her blog posts at So to Speak: A Feminist Journal of Language and Art.
Mike Steffen's third poetry collection Bad Behavior was published by Brick Road Poetry Press last year. His work has been published in Poetry, Potomac Review, Ledge, Poet Lore and other publications. He will be reading this year at the art bar poetry series at Q Space in Toronto, deepcleveland Poetry Hour in Strongsville and the Moveable Beats series in Philadelphia.
Pamela Twining lives in Woodstock, NY where she raised her children and studied organic farming and healing with herbs. She has read her poetry in many venues alongside greats like Andy Clausen, Peter Lamborn Wilson , Anne Waldman and Thurston Moore. Twining's recent work includes includes Selected Poems of Pamela Twining (Heyday 2011) and utopians & madmen (DancinFool 2012) with A Thousand Years of Wanting (Shivastan Press) forthcoming in 2013.
