Mac's booksellers Grace Harper and Rosa Ransom will also recommend recent and favorite books for those on your holiday list.
Elise Geither is the author of The Deer, a coming of age young adult novel. The summer Minna turns 15, her family moves to a new neighborhood to be near her ailing grandmother. There, Minna meets Van and Rebecca, two teens who pull Minna out of her world of books and teach her about friendship, ice skating, and life. But one of them also holds a deep secret. Minna wants to help them all and the story comes to a shocking conclusion in the neighborhood park at the end of that summer.
Elise Geither, PhD, is Associate Director of Spoken English Programs at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.
John Bruening is the author of The Midnight Guardian: Hour of Darkness an homage to classic pulp fiction. He has been writing professionally for more than thirty years, first as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor and later as a marketing copywriter. As far back as he can remember, he has been a fan of comics, pulps, adventure fiction, vintage movies and serials, old-time radio, and any other form of heroic storytelling.
Poet Cindy Washabaugh's most recent collection is Sings the Body. These 26 sensual poems tell the story of one phase of a life's journey impacted by the early and unexpected loss of a mother; of how such a thing shapes a daughter's life as she becomes a woman-with her lovers, friends, with her sister, with her own daughter, and with the landscapes of her world, both internal and external.
Cindy is a writer, community/organizational program developer and director, facilitator, editor, and arts advocate. She currently designs, directs and facilitates programs in individual growth and development, community connection and learning through the creative arts in community and organizational settings throughout Northeast Ohio, including Magnolia Clubhouse Inc., Waterloo Arts, Literary Cleveland, the Slovenian Workmen’s Home, Stone Gardens at Menorah Park, Heights Arts, Cuyahoga County Public Library and many more.
